David B. Cox Graduated in 2005 – B.S.: Mechanical Engineering. Independent engineering consultant specializing in machine design and system analysis. I am also proficient technical marketing materials, such as renderings and animations. The majority of my clients are not local, so I am comfortable with all forms of remote communications, including web conferences, cloud file sharing, remote desktop, etc. Instructor responsible for teaching basic to intermediate Autodesk Inventor skills and techniques. Responsible for instruction, grading, and managing classroom. The position was contract position for one semester only. Engineer through Job Crafters, Inc. Specialized in system and structural analysis of all subsystems of the vessel. The majority of my work was with fluid analysis of mechanical piping systems and structural analysis of equipment foundations. I also insured the systems would be ABS and USCG compliant. I was laid off at the end of 2008 as a result of the company filing bankruptcy due to the economic recession. Engineering manager for custom hydraulic cylinder manufacturer where I worked with customers to provide a custom hydraulic cylinder solution. I also managed two drafters and one engineer as well as oversaw all projects requiring authorization of regulatory bodies. I was also responsible for all weld procedures, their approvals, and maintenance. My wife, Payton, and I are very active in our church and are blessed to have such a wonderful church family. Payton teaches children’s choir and I serve as a deacon. My wife and I are wheelchair users. Along with sourcing, maintaining, and repairing our equipment, I also design and build it. I designed the modifications to our Yukon XL, including structural, suspension, and electrical modifications, programmed its PLC, and managed the build project. I have designed and built elevating cabinets, a modified baby crib for our son, among other devices. Elected in November of 2012 for a 6 year term. I serve as one of seven elected Board Members who manage the Baldwin County public school system made up of over 30,000 students, approximately 3,500 employees, and has an annual budget of over 300 million dollars. I designed off road vehicles for the SAE’s Mini Baja competitions. During the five years I served on the team, I moved up to Team Leader. During that time, I designed, built, and raced 6 cars. I competed in 15 Mini Baja Competitions as a team member, and as a team leader and now serve as a judge when the race is held in Alabama.
